The CLX Trainer
ESBN: KOL8020-CLXTrainer-FFP
Product description:
The CLXTrainer version 4.32 uses RSLogix 5000 look and feel. This RSLogix 5000 training software is a great next step, after completing our PLC training software. Just like with our PLC course, this course covers analog inputs and outputs in a PAC. (Important knowledge for the instrumentation technician.)
The CLXTrainer ControlLogix Training Software includes an introduction to ControlLogix with an overview of RSLogix 5000. This computer-based training software is an ideal tool for learning the fundamentals of RSLogix 5000 programmable logic control. The look, feel, and operation of our simulations so closely mimic Allen Bradley's latest software offering. Some not being properly trained yet may believe a PAC like Rockwell's Controllogix is a PLC and they can 'figure it out'. But after viewing the RSLogix 5000 training screenshots and details below, one can see there is a whole lot more to learn when advancing from PLCs to PACs. For example, one of the most challenging topics for those transitioning from the PLC to working with a PAC is the replacement of memory addresses with "Tags". So this course covers this topic with interactive step-by-step simulated exercises including creating a new tag with an RSLogix 5000 simulation. Another example is the industrial computer (PAC) has a scan cycle interrupt "task" the user has to understand and manage. Yet another example of the difference from a PLC is in a PAC the analog scaling can be done in the I/O module configuration instead of using ladder logic SCL instructions. Etc. etc.
This PLC training certificate course (PLC Trainer) typically takes about 30 hours to earn a certificate. If an instructor goes through the Lab manual exercises with a class, it could extend class hours. It is a software course to be installed on a Windows computer, so it never expires, learners can use it on their own schedule and use it as a refresher. Available as a single Student learner license, unlimited-user Site License, and unlimited-sites Enterprise License for schools and companies. Most online and software courses' amount of interactivity is no more than flipping to the next screen and answering some written questions, our courses are the exception. This RSLogix 5000 course includes animations, and even simulations! So the learner understands better and retains knowledge longer.

In PACs, users no longer have the option to set the timer instruction time base as they did with PLCs. In PACs the time base is fixed at 1000 = 1 second ...
One of the starkest differences between a PLC and a PAC is the absence of addressing data tables, replaced with "Tags". (Especially when troubleshooting.) So in our course, this is covered with interactive step-by-step simulated exercises including creating a new tag via a built-in RSLogix 5000 simulation.
Also important to be aware of with PACs like Controllogix is "Task", and how they can interrupt an emulated subroutine of ladder logic in the middle of the 'scan' to perform a different timed or conditional task. The learner may want to go over these concepts repeatedly in the course to be better understood and remembered.
See subtle differences in this FRD programming example. As seen in this screenshot, the RSLogix 5000 simulator has great additional tools for you to better simulate the real world.
Note: This training software does not include an RSLogix 5000 simulator users can type their own code/logic into. It does allow users to interact with pre-defined RSLogix 5000 simulations relevant to the topic being taught.
RSLogix 5000 programming training is taught and demonstrated from the beginning of the process for example mapping out your process with a flow diagram to introducing you to more advanced programming languages like Structured text (STX is similar to the computer programming language Pascal.)
This Controllogix training course also introduces hardware and communication topics like RS232 configuration, Data Highway Plus (DH+), ControlNet, and Ethernet/IP communications. Making this course a great pre-requisite to taking IMINS Rockwell industrial network management course.
Unlike PLC input/output modules which are plug-n-play auto-configured, PAC I/O requires configuration, firmware updates, etc., etc. and can be quite daunting for those only trained on PLCs. This Controllogix RSLogix 5000 course closes that knowledge gap too. (Input Analog 1756if16 for example)
This Controllogix RSLogix 5000 training course is also part of the training course bundles ...
